Role Summary/Purpose: The GE Software Development Leadership Program (SDLP) offers those with a passion for building game-changing software an opportunity to grow their leadership skills, business acumen and technical skills, while building a career with unlimited potential.

Program members lead by doing—gaining real-world experience by working on important and challenging projects alongside some of the brightest technical minds in the world.
Essential Responsibilities: Key Program Highlights
 Full-time, two-year program where program members work with GE businesses, alongside software experts in various locations
 Program members are a key pipeline for future leaders of GE’s global software community

Assignments
 3-4 rotational assignments
 Group Projects tied to GE’s software strategy

Training
 Global classroom experience and virtual coursework in advanced software development, leadership, and business acumen
 Action learning related to innovative new products and platforms
 Experience working in cross-functional teams and with different GE businesses

Personalized Development
 Exposure to GE Senior Leadership & software peers across GE
 Customized individual development plan supported with personal coaching

In this role you will:

- Writes code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project

- Develop high performing, scaling, and innovative end-to-end web and embedded applications

- Collaborate with system engineers, frontend developers, and software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions and regulatory requirements

- Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/XP/Agile, CI, Cyber Security, etc

- Build features such as web services , queries on existing tables, usability/ UI development and Image quality/Data Acquisition performance services

- Understand performance parameters and assess application performance

- Develop and implement core data structures and algorithms using various languages
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)

- Demonstrated academic excellence (minimum
3.0 GPA on a
4.0 scale or equivalent)

Desired Characteristics: Technical Expertise:
- Solves technical challenges through regular application of common design patterns (e.g. Gang of Four, Singleton), and identify appropriate patterns for use in problem solving and development
- Effective use of data structures and algorithms. Understand arrays, LinkedLists, dictionaries, basic sorting, searching & data structure traversal & retrieval algorithms
- Ability to write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
- Up to date with the current industry standard and trending software development tools & technologies
- Preference will be given to persons that have prior intern, co-op, or research experience in relevant areas (eg. Software/web applications, wireless systems, healthcare, intelligent platforms, patient monitoring, diagnostic equipment, FIRST robotics, etc) Business Acumen:
- Ability to understand the project’s value proposition for the customer and commitment to deliver the best value proposition
- Understand how businesses solve problems in specific domain areas using technology ( E.g. Healthcare domain – EMR Applications) Leadership:
- Engage positively across multiple departments and businesses to establish clarity, vision, and mutual trust in order to achieve business goals.
- Demonstrate program / project management skills working on and leading teams
- Strong team skills with demonstrated leadership skills Personal Attributes:
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms
- Demonstrates strong technical aptitude towards problem solving
